However, deliberately offensive photos and explicitnudity will be summarily deleted. Repeat offenders risk not only being permanently banned from Catchy Colors group, but they also risk having their images/photostreams removed from ALL public spaces on Flickr (Report Abuse Tool).![]()

The Obligatory Flower Picture
Welcome to the Obligatory Flower Picture group, this group is about the flower picture that every photographer has to do! For an example picture:

'What Digital Camera' flickr group
Hi. This group is for readers and contributors to What Digital Camera, the UK's original digital photography magazine, and those interested in contributing. If you haven't read What Digital Camera then you can find out more about us on our website at www.whatdigitalcamera.com.If you're in the UK you'll find us in decent branches of WH Smith, Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda etc, and discerning independent newsagents. If you're outside the UK you can satisfy your burning curiosity by obtaining an electronic version of WDC fromwww.zinio.com/gncoffer?issn=1366-5324&of=ZH1&ns=usa.But enough of that. If you'd like to share your pictures with fellow WDC readers, or perhaps see them in print, then post your pictures and/or links here. Please don't bombard us with pictures though – just a small selection of your best ones will suffice. For this reason we've set a limit of ten pictures per member per month. Alternatively, if you've got something to say, or something you think we should be writing about, then let us know here too. Thanks,Nigel AthertonGroup Admin and Editor of WDC

City of Winchester
Pictures from the city of Winchester, Hampshire, UKAny pictures taken, of or about or around the cityINFO ON WINCHESTERWinchester is a cathedral city on the edge of the South Downs in South England. It is a city with a rich a varied history. It was once England's ancient capital and former seat of King Alfred the Great. The settlement of Winchester was first established in the Iron Age - 150BC and surrendered to King William and Conqueor in 1066, who built Wolvelsey Castle and set the wheels in moption for the construction of present Cathedral begins. The Doomsday book was also compiled in Winchester in 1086. According to the tourist information, Winchester is 'popular for its shopping streets and architecture, its floral summer season and quirky open air events'. Winchester is most well known for its eleventh century cathedral and for the Great Hall which for over 600 years has housed the mysterious Round Table. The Great Hall was built in the 12th century and is the only surviving portion of Winchester Castle. The Great Hall was rebuilt, sometime between 1222-1235, and still exists in this form. It is known for "King Arthur's" Round Table, which has hung in the hall from at least 1463. The table actually dates from the 13th century, and as such is not contemporary to Arthur. According to Channel 4's Best and Worst Places to Live 2006 programme, Winchester is the best place in the country to live! www.channel4.com/4homes/ontv/best&worst/2006/winchest.... According to the programme, shown in Oct 2006, 'Winchester combines its rich heritage with the best of city life, offering a vibrant cultural centre set amongst beautiful rural surrounds. Some random facts about the city are: The legend of St Swithun originates in WinchesterDespite Winchester's association with King Alfred, no one has ever found his remains. Winchester College is believed to be the oldest continuously running school in the country. Winchester plays host to the largest farmers' market in the UK.]Jane Austen moved to the city from her nearby home at Chawton in 1817. She was laid to rest in Winchester Cathedral upon her death, following a brief residence in College Street.Winchester has a strong affinity with British military history - The Royal Green Jackets John Keats wrote his ode 'To Autumn' during a stay in Winchester in 1819. Diver William Walker spent six years toiling below the walls of the cathedral in a bid to replace the foundations. Le Tour de France visited Winchester. in 1994 Winchester College is also apparently the birthplace of the modern game of cricket! Fair Trade
Ever seen this logo?
"Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers - especially in the South. Fair Trade organizations (backed by consumers) are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade."For more informationHopefully this group will gather all flickrrs interested in Fair Trade. So post here all of your pictures of Fair Trade products, events, forums, shops, cafes. Please add a 'Fairtrade' or 'Fair Trade' tag to the pictures you post to the group and a bit of explanation about the picture if not self-explanatory. Thank you!All we want is to raise awareness. Flickr API
A Flickr group for Flickr API projects. Driving awareness of the Flickr API, projects that use it and those incredible ideas that programmatically exposed systems produce. Think Google API + Amazon API + Flickr API with a bit of GMail thrown in.The developers of Flickr rightly pointed out they want to keep technical discussions directly related to the API on the mailing list.If you have photos or screenshots that illustrate your use of the API, then feel free to add them. Please be selective though - people don't necessarily want to see a dozen almost identical screenshots of your app - just one or two that show off the most interesting aspects. Please don't add non-API related photos here. Not even Kittens, Babies or Sunsets. They will be rejected.
flickrColors (blue/pink)
You see those gorgeous blue and hot pink colors you just have to photograph them. . .You go through your flickrstream and see them and think how lovely they match the logo. . .You KNOW it. You're addicted to the fabulousness that is flickr. Add your photos here. Here are some guidelines that we apply very loosely, and break quite freely. The more of the guidelines you break, the more true it is that there better be something else about your photo that "grabs" us.1. Flickr colours are that rich, bold blue and lush, hot pink. You know what they are: You can see them very clearly, all over every single flickr page, everywhere ... even right there on your photopage, side-by-side with your photo that you are thinking about submitting to this group.2. The following colours are not flickr colours: Aqua. Pale or pastel blues and pinks. Magenta. Red!3. Sunsets and cherry blossoms are usually not flickr colours.4. We prefer photos with both flickr colours.5. If you have several photos of the same thing, probably one or maybe two is enough for us, at least for now.Have fun!
FREE LONDON!
*YAWN* another London group :)So why is this group different?Well probably it's not - but I thought it would be a good idea to have a central 'hub' for things going on in London.I miss out on so much because my head is in the clouds and then I see everyone's wonderful photos of events I've missed. And I turn green with envy.NO MORE!Here you can post about up-coming events where there are supreme photo opportunities as well as posting your wonderful photos.I'm thinking:> Festivals> Fetes> Fairs> Demonstrations> open-air concerts, dancing, singing etc.So that we save our pennies for more printing and lenses, the only stipulation is that the events must either be entirely FREE or under £5.CALENDAR HERE - you can join this easily and post your own important happenings. Please do - I'm not sure I can manage it all alone :)HURRAH :)ps: This is not, repeat NOT to 'rival' the London Flickr Meet-ups group, who do a wonderful job of arranging and advising about events.

Guildford (UK)
The historic town of Guildford is situated in a gap in the North Downs carved by the River Wey. It’s location and excellent transport links mean that Guildford has welcomed travellers for centuries. Guildford is the County town of Surrey offering all the richness and amenities of a city, with excellent shopping and entertainment, but set in the heart of rolling countryside dotted with picturesque villages and a wealth of gardens and historic buildings. The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty encompasses much of the surrounding countryside, it is a rich and varied environment with opportunities for walking, picnics or just admiring the views. The River Wey navigations, which run through the centre of Guildford, was one of the first rivers to be made navigable and Guildford later became an important staging post for travellers by stagecoach between London and Portsmouth, being midway between the capital city and coastal port.Check out www.guildford.gov.uk for more info.
Gunwharf Quays + Spinnaker Tower
Gunwharf Quays is an area of Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. This group would naturally be about the sights of the area (such as the Spinnaker Tower), but it might well turn out otherwise. You can see the Isle of Wight from here, quite easily.Group icon from a photo by felinebird.
Hampshire England Landscapes
Photographs of the beautiful landscape of Hampshire, England. Please keep the photos to show landscapes of Hampshire. If I think it does not fit the bill then your photo will be removed with out explanation. I just don't have the time to explain. I know there are people in Flickrland who just add an image to a group just for the sake of getting some exposure. Well it ain't happening here so you've been warned! It kind of makes the reason behind of having groups pointless (rant over!) so please take your time to read the definition below. What is a landscape photo?... as described by Wim van Velzen at www.fotografiewimvanvelzen.nl/webarticle05.htm last accessed on 17 Jan 2006.Landscape could be described as a combination of geological, biological and culture-historical elements, forming a unity in a certain area as one vista. In other words: an area enclosed by the horizon. [ 2 ]This definition shows that landscape - in opposition of e.g. a zoological habitat or governmental district - is a visual notion. It is visually perceived space. [ 3 ]And it is not limited to the natural environments of plant and animal. Human activities and their consequences are - a fact I like to stress - part of most landscapes. Is town part of the landscape as well? As a consequence of the definition it is, but is generally not regarded as such. In my opinion this has to do with the lack of a real horizon in built-up areas - there are always buildings in front of it.Since photographically landscape and street are different genres, I leave town out of this article from now on.To be safe, make sure your photo has some horizon. If it is a close up of something natural, whether grass or a tree and the horizon is missing, then the photo might be removed. This group has some lovely photos, please keep them on topic, keep them coming, and keep having fun.

So you can find here, anything located within the boundary of the M25.From the people that populate it, like the market vendors of Brick Lane to city boys of Canary Warf.To the Areas that structure it, from the bright lights of London Theatre Land to the quiet of the Heath.London is a big wide place and it's a big wide subject for a Flickr group, so there are thousands of members and tens of thousands of photos. The photo pool is probably best explored via the tags, so please try and make sure your own photos are well tagged when you submit them. If you are looking for a more intimate and local experience then this is also a place from which you can explore many other groups about aspects of London life, and in particular the London Borough groups which we would encourage Londoners to join as appropriate to where you live or work. Here's the current list: London Borough Groups.Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Barnet and Enfield, Brent, Bromley, Camden, City of London, City of Westminster, Croydon EalingFulhamGreenwich:Hammersmith, Hackney, Haringey, HaveringIslingtonKensington and Chelsea, Kingston upon ThamesLewisham , LambethMertonNewham:Redbridge, RichmondSouthwark:Tower HamletsWalthamstow, Wandsworth, Wimbledon(These groups should eventually align with the 32 London Boroughs)For the monthly London members meetups:London Flickr Meetups:Search for London Groups listed on Flickr:Search For a really comprehensive list of all the groups which have something to do with London please visit pimp my London group which is also where you should go to advertise any new groups which you feel like creating. A group to pool photos from and to discuss upcoming and past meetups of the London Flickr groupAll are welcome to come along, you can just bring any old camera or even a phone - it's all about socialising and taking a few shots in different parts of London. Then we post the results to the group here - it's not a competition. You can keep an eye on what we're doing by checking in the threads above or looking at the Upcoming group.GuidelinesAttending Events and Posting to the Pool1. Membership of the group is open to anyone. However you need to be 18 years or over to come to a meetup, unless you are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Many meetups include a trip to the pub.2. To add a picture to the pool, please try to ensure that a) it was taken at a meetup, or at an event advertised in the announcements thread. b) it is tagged with an upcoming event tag. Upcoming tags look a bit like this - upcoming:event=XXXXX, where the XXXXX is the event number. You can get the event tag from the relevant upcoming page, or use boncey's Simplrfy site.Organising a Meetup3. Once you have been to a few meetups, please consider organising one.4. You can start a new thread to float an idea for a meetup, and gauge interest. But once you think you'll go ahead, please; a) Ensure the date of the meetup is included in the thread title. b) Provide clear instructions about where to meet, and when. Remember that it can be hard to meet people in crowded places, so be precise. Update the post at the top of the thread to reflect this. c) Start an upcoming thread for the event, and invite people to sign up there.5. Enjoy!

Of Me
Of Me is for us, the photographers. We are all out there taking pictures of the world as we see it. The tragedy is that as we do so, even though we become part of that world through our photography, we are left out of the picture. Literally. This group is for us, for us to share the photos where we are an essential part of the not just the process, but the image itself. My Shadow - Often we notice our shadow - as a friend, as a spy, as an intruder, as a playmate, as tall as a building. I often can't resist it - nature's projection of us onto the environment. Reflections - Reflections are everywhere and I know we've all done it - taken our picture in the mirror or reflected in nature or any of an infinite number of other situations. Sometimes its because we want to show we were there, we were part of that moment. Other times it may be an accident... we didn't notice because we were inthralled with the subject. Still, other times, we just want to be the subject. What subject could you possibly know more about? And since we're normally behind the lens instead of in front of it, we're often left out - hey we need pictures for our profiles, right?Self-Portraits - One of the more difficult things to obtain is a great self-portrait photograph of oneself. Set that camera on timer and try to jump in the photo. I'd love to see what you all come up with. I hope you all enjoy this group. Its for you. There's something powerful about a photographer who deliberately steps into his/her own picture, something bold, and something special.

People Unposed In Public.UK
Photos of people unposed in public places (streets, pubs, parks, cafes, on public transport...), in the UK. A few things to be discouraged:* homeless people or people lying drunk in the street (not nice and too easy)* backs of people (are boring, unless you're Martin Parr, perhaps)* people that are sooo tiny as to be barely distinguishable* photoshop tricks & gimmicks, such as selective colouring* long voyeuristic telephoto shots of people (again, too easy)* really tight cropping. let those folks have room to breatheThere may be exceptions if a particularly good shot...

Second Life
Welcome to the Second Life pool, the biggest group on Flickr for residents/players of Second Life, the 3D virtual world from Linden Lab.This group is not endorsed or run in any way by Linden Lab. All decisions of the moderators are final. This is a public, safe and PG group, and we ask that you familiarize yourself with both the Flickr Community Guidelines and our posting criteria before submitting your photos.
You will find that the Flickr Help page is actually quite... helpful! It's the best place to get all kinds of information about Flickr in general. Some topics you might be interested in:About Groups: How to post photos to the pool, share them in discussion threads and more!About Content Filters: Content filters are especially important to this group. Every photo uploaded to Flickr has two content filters placed on it. The first tells what kind of image it is (photo, screenshot or illustration) and the second tells about the safety level of the image (safe, moderate or restricted.) If you don't mark your images appropriately, your account could be moderated by Flickr staff. Only images flagged as SAFE belong in this pool. You can read more about our posting criteria here.About Copyright: Flickr gives you the ability to assign Creative Commons licenses to your photos. You can read more about licenses here. Additionally, Katarina Malthus, one of our moderators, has written an excellent post in our discussion group about Protecting Your Intellectual Property, and it's absolutely worth a read.If you DO see your work in someone else's stream, don't panic. The first step is to try contacting that person, since it's often a misunderstanding by newer members who might not understand how Flickr works. If that doesn't work, the next thing to do is to file a Notice of Infringement with the Yahoo! copyright team. (There is always a link to this page in the footer.)
Where can I introduce myself? There is a special thread for new members to say hello here. Why do my photos need moderator approval before they show up in the pool?Obviously, the biggest reason we do this is to make sure the photos in our pool always meet our criteria. A second reason we do this is because it makes it easier for the moderators to know which photos have been checked already, and to manage people who abuse the rules. What is a SLurl and how can I include one on my photo?A SLurl is a link to a specific location on the grid, and it's fun to include them with your photos and discussions so other residents can visit interesting places you've found. To get the SLurl for your current location, you can:* Open the big map and find the button that says, "Save SLurl to clipboard" and then paste that into your browser.* Build your own SLurl using the SLURL Builder* Or (the easy way) use one of the many HUDs that automatically include it FOR you. Read our discussion thread about that here.Who can I talk to if I have suggestions for the group? We love input from the community! You can find a list of current admins and moderators here, and any of us is always happy to hear your thoughts or questions about the group. Are there other groups relating to SL?There are TONS. A long time ago, we started A list of all Second Life Groups on Flickr in the wiki, and we encourage anyone starting a new group to add to that list. It's impossible for just one person to keep it accurate, so if you can link to it in your groups and encourage everyone to help, that's fantastic! Also, you can always start your own group.I'm new to SL photography. Where can I find tips to capture better images? This group is a GREAT place to start. Try searching the discussion for things like tip or trick to find just some of the things we've talked about. There are also two fantastic SL wiki pages: Snapshots and Torley's Guide to High-Quality Photography". There are SO many great ideas and tips in there that you should be creating beautiful art in no time at all. And, of course, you can always ask for help in the threads here.
Snow - The Main Subject
That white stuff we all love.Posting Guidlines:- snow- not ice, but snow- mostly snow- people/pets/things interacting with snow (if the photo would be the same without snow than it shouldn't go here)- snow activities IN snow- no floodingIf your photo is of "something" other than snow, and there is a snow flake or two somewhere in your photo, where we have to hunt to see it, or of people or pets that just happen to be standing in snow, where the snow does not contribute to the photo, it will be removed without notice.

As a veteran who once raised her hand for her country, I cannot sit by silently. To be silent on Jan. 20 will be taken as support of Bush, which I do not." [more quotes here]"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore RooseveltHow much longer do we have to endure this man www.backwardsbush.com/code.php
